In a significant milestone for clean energy development, the U.S. Department of the Interior has exceeded its target of permitting 25 GW of clean energy, comprising solar, wind, and geothermal projects, ahead of schedule. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland expressed the administration’s dedication to advancing modern, resilient climate infrastructure that safeguards communities from the escalating impacts of climate change. The Department also unveiled a final Renewable Energy rule from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), designed to reduce consumer energy costs, streamline the solar and wind project development processes, and provide incentives for the responsible development of renewable energy projects on public lands. The rule emphasizes the utilization of project labor agreements and American-made materials, signaling a commitment to bolstering domestic industries and job creation.

Furthermore, the BLM announced the full operational status of two solar projects in California, namely the Arica and Victory Pass projects, delivering a combined 465 MW of clean electricity to the grid. Situated in eastern Riverside County, these projects represent the first two approved initiatives under the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan, marking a significant stride in advancing renewable energy deployment within the state.
