Amazon Leading the Way in Renewable Energy Investments

Amazon has proudly announced its status as the world’s largest corporate purchaser of renewable energy for the fourth year running, following the investment in over 100 new solar and wind energy projects last year. With a growing portfolio exceeding 500 wind and solar projects globally, the tech giant is set to generate more than 77,000 GWh of energy annually once these projects are operational.

According to Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky, these investments are not only empowering the company’s operations but are also contributing to the provision of clean energy to the grid, fostering economic growth, and creating job opportunities in the communities where Amazon operates.

While already achieving a remarkable milestone of powering over 90% of its operations with renewables in the past year, Amazon remains committed to its renewable energy goals. The company’s unwavering focus includes the continuous pursuit of innovative ways to bring new projects online, addressing grid constraints, and collaborating with policymakers to address the impacts of climate change. These efforts collectively serve to propel Amazon towards its target of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2025.

In expanding its renewables portfolio to 27 countries and more than 20 U.S. states, Amazon continues to demonstrate its leadership role in advancing sustainable energy solutions on a global scale.
