Secure Solar Futures recently inked a significant 25-year solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tazewell Four Seasons YMCA. This forward-thinking move will see the development of a 483 kW solar power system, bringing on-site solar energy to the facility without any upfront capital cost.
Located in Tazewell, Virginia, the Four Seasons YMCA plays a pivotal role in the community by offering an array of programs, including sports camps for children, group fitness classes for all ages, and essential medical screenings.
The solar array, which will consist of 912 panels produced by Jinko Solar, is set to be installed on adjacent land. After installation, Secure Solar Futures will take up ownership, operation, and maintenance of the solar equipment, selling the clean energy produced to the YMCA for the term of the PPA.
Over the projected 25-year timespan, the solar system is expected to generate an impressive 15,212,832 kWh of electric power. This production is anticipated to cover a remarkable 98.5% of the facility’s power demand, showcasing the substantial impact this initiative will have on the YMCA’s operational sustainability.
At the PPA’s conclusion, the YMCA will gain full ownership of the system at no additional cost, providing the facility with the means to produce its own energy for the expected 35- to 40-year lifespan of the equipment.
This impactful progression reflects Secure Solar Futures’ ongoing commitment to enabling the integration of renewable energy solutions into diverse communities, while exemplifying the Four Seasons YMCA’s dedication to both fiscal responsibility and environmental consciousness.
In summary, the partnership between Secure Solar Futures and the Tazewell Four Seasons YMCA is a concrete step toward a sustainable future, serving as a pioneering example for the wider community. This venture bears immense promise for driving positive change and setting a new standard for eco-conscious facility management.
This timely collaboration underscores the increasing role of solar energy in transforming the way organizations operate and aligns with the broader vision of Sustainable Development Goals to mitigate climate change while creating a positive impact on local communities.
