Duke Energy is actively seeking proposals for acquiring diverse power generation to meet the needs of its Indiana customers. With a focus on transitioning to cleaner energy, the company is surveying markets for a wide range of power generation resources.
In line with its integrated new power generation resource plan, Duke Energy is specifically looking for up to 2,500 MW of renewable energy generation, including combinations with battery storage. Additionally, the company is seeking up to 2,500 MW of non-intermittent generation, such as natural gas combustion turbines, combined cycle units, and stand-alone battery storage.
Proposals may include existing generating resources or proposed resources with an in-service date no later than December 31, 2032. To ensure a fair and unbiased process, Duke Energy has enlisted the services of an independent third-party administrator, Charles River Associates, to facilitate the RFP process.
The timeline for submissions is as follows: Proposals for intermittent generation are due by February 9, and the deadline for proposals for non-intermittent generation is February 23. Selected projects will undergo review by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission for approval.
