Tika Ram Rana, another survivor, described the horrifying moment as the earthquake struck while he slept. “I was asleep at night when it started shaking and the house caved. So many houses have collapsed, and so many people have been buried,” he shared, his head wrapped in a bandage.

Rescue teams are tirelessly working to locate survivors and provide essential aid in the affected regions. However, their efforts have been hampered by the inaccessibility of the mountainous villages, reachable only by foot, and roads that have been blocked due to landslides triggered by the earthquake. The government, led by Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, is prioritizing the swift delivery of tents, food, and medicine to the thousands of displaced individuals.

The earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.6, originated in Jajarkot, located about 250 miles northeast of Kathmandu.
