Rudy Giuliani, previously known as America’s Mayor, has found himself engulfed in various legal troubles recently. Adding to his woes, his former lawyer, Robert Costello, has filed a collections suit against him, seeking nearly $1.4 million in unpaid bills. While Giuliani’s association with Donald Trump played a significant role in tarnishing his reputation, Costello also tied his fate to the former president.

Giuliani’s Troubles and Costello’s Involvement:
Giuliani’s professional rapport with Trump took a toll on his financial standing, as the former president reportedly failed to compensate him for his services. Additionally, Giuliani’s association with several controversial events, including Trump’s two impeachments, has further marred his reputation. Costello, a partner at Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP, has also found himself connected to Giuliani’s misfortunes. He played a vital role in publicizing Hunter Biden’s “laptop” and allegedly offered a pardon to Michael Cohen during the Mueller investigation. In an effort to prevent Trump’s indictment, Costello testified against his former client, considering him an untrustworthy individual. Furthermore, his counsel to Steve Bannon that defying a congressional subpoena was acceptable led to Bannon’s conviction for contempt of Congress, bringing a communication warrant upon himself due to exaggerated claims made to the FBI.

The Lawsuit Against Giuliani:
Despite the collections suit being a significant blow to Giuliani, it is not his most pressing legal concern. The complaint filed against him outlines a range of legal services provided by Costello, including representation in criminal investigations and civil lawsuits. Giuliani’s recent default in a defamation suit brought by Georgia poll workers further complicated matters. Judge Beryl Howell imposed “death penalty sanctions” on Giuliani for refusing to comply with discovery requests and failing to disclose his finances. Consequently, Giuliani’s financial situation has led to speculation about his ability to settle these legal disputes.

Costello and Davidoff’s Lawsuits:
Interestingly, Costello’s lawsuit against Giuliani follows his recent action against Steve Bannon for unpaid legal fees worth nearly $500,000. Both lawsuits exhibit similarities and share the same signatory from the law firm, Davidoff. In August, the New York state court ruled in favor of Davidoff and Costello in the case against Bannon.

Giuliani’s Financial Challenges:
Given Giuliani’s current circumstances, it appears that he may be judgment-proof, especially considering his recent decision to sell his New York apartment. Additionally, Giuliani’s disbarment prevents him from practicing law, and he now earns a living as a podcaster and Cameo performer. Considering these factors, it seems prudent for Davidoff to pursue its claim before potential juries assess damages in other lawsuits involving Giuliani.

The legal troubles facing Rudy Giuliani continue to mount, with his former lawyer Robert Costello filing a collections suit demanding $1.4 million in unpaid bills. Giuliani’s association with Donald Trump and his involvement in various controversies have put a strain on his financial standing and professional reputation. Meanwhile, Costello’s role in significant events and cases adds a layer of complexity to their legal entanglements. As their friendship seemingly disintegrates, the outcome of this lawsuit will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in Giuliani’s future.
