OMCO Solar Expands with 6th USA Manufacturing Plant

OMCO Solar, the leading factory-direct manufacturer of solar trackers and fixed-tilt solutions, is thrilled to announce the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Alabama. This state-of-the-art plant, the company’s second in Alabama and sixth across the United States, marks a significant milestone in OMCO Solar’s mission to revolutionize the solar industry.

As part of its expansion strategy, OMCO Solar is introducing four cutting-edge manufacturing systems that will enhance the production of its renowned Fixed Tilt Choice and Origin Tracker solutions. Additionally, OMCO Solar has been selected by First Solar Inc., a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing, to manufacture and supply module backrails for its acclaimed Series 7 modules.

With a remarkable investment of over $10 million, the new Alabama facility will encompass approximately 170,000 square feet. This expansion is expected to create jobs for 100 skilled workers, further strengthening OMCO Solar’s commitment to boosting employment opportunities within the renewable energy sector. Once operational, this latest addition will surge OMCO Solar’s overall manufacturing capacity to over 10 GW, spread across six expansive facilities that collectively occupy more than 700,000 square feet of manufacturing space throughout the U.S.

To ensure rapid scalability and support the anticipated volumes of Series 7 modules, OMCO Solar strategically chose a location in close proximity to First Solar’s upcoming manufacturing facility in Lawrence County, Alabama. First Solar’s facility is scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. By establishing its factory nearby, OMCO Solar will streamline production processes and guarantee seamless collaboration with First Solar. The new site will house multiple high-speed systems that are specifically designed to produce First Solar’s groundbreaking Series 7 PV module backrails.

Since its inception, OMCO Solar has remained steadfast in its commitment to American manufacturing, and these recent investments beautifully demonstrate the profound significance and historic impact of the Inflation Reduction Act. By building a robust supply ecosystem using domestically sourced materials, including glass and steel, OMCO Solar has showcased its ability to successfully manufacture solar modules within the United States, for the United States.
