Nextracker, a leading solar tracker and software solutions company, has joined forces with Unimacts, a provider of industrial manufacturing and supply chain solutions, to establish a dedicated manufacturing facility in Las Vegas. Operated by Unimacts, this facility will exclusively produce critical steel components for Nextracker’s ground-mount solar energy generation plants, primarily catering to projects in Nevada and the southwestern states. The inauguration of this facility marks Nextracker’s sixth public dedication of a new manufacturing facility since 2022, and its 15th facility opened or expanded with key suppliers within the United States during that period.
With expanded production capacity, the Las Vegas facility is set to create more than 100 new jobs presently, with further growth expected to reach over 200 jobs by 2024. This state-of-the-art plant incorporates Unimacts’ manufacturing machinery and equipment, which has been relocated from Mexico, in addition to brand-new equipment installations.
According to the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), nearly 200 GW of solar manufacturing capacity has been announced or expanded since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act last year.
Nextracker has consistently invested in solar manufacturing, expanding their annual domestic solar tracker capacity to over 25 GW. This expansion has involved the announcement of dedicated production lines in Texas, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Tennessee, and now Nevada.
The inauguration of the new Las Vegas factory marks a significant milestone for both Nextracker and Unimacts as they advance their mission to bolster the domestic solar manufacturing industry and contribute to a greener future.
