Nextracker, a leading solar solutions provider, is excited to announce the launch of its suite of next-generation innovations. These cutting-edge releases are built upon Nextracker’s proven technology, which has been successfully deployed in utility-scale solar energy power plants for three or more years. By combining hardware, smart software, and process innovations, Nextracker aims to address prevalent challenges such as hail, undulating terrain, and rapidly changing atmospheric conditions.
Introducing Hail Pro, a groundbreaking solution that leverages the inherent features of Nextracker’s flagship NX Horizon smart solar tracking system. This advanced design empowers NX Horizon to stow up to four times faster than standard trackers, making it crucial when hailstorms strike. In the event of a grid outage, Hail Pro will automatically stow itself without any operator intervention. Additionally, this new solution integrates weather service information, hail readiness services, and the optional Hail Pro-75 feature, allowing for stowing at extreme angles of up to 75 degrees in locations susceptible to severe hail.
Nextracker’s latest innovation, NX Horizon XTR-1.5, is specifically tailored for hilly sites. Building upon the success of the popular NX Horizon XTR terrain-following tracker, which has been utilized in utility-scale projects since 2019, NX Horizon XTR-1.5 doubles the capability of its predecessor. It minimizes or eliminates the need for earthwork on challenging terrain sites, negating the requirement for complex joints or additional components. By reducing steel usage, with shorter piles and minimized soil disturbance, NX Horizon XTR-1.5 accelerates construction schedules, reduces project risk, and minimizes environmental impact while preserving habitats.
Nextracker’s TrueCapture, a yield optimization and control software, introduces a new tracking function called Zonal Diffuse. This innovative technology enhances energy generation during rapidly changing irradiance conditions. With additional high spatial resolution sensing and new control algorithms, Zonal Diffuse enables trackers to adapt to variations in cloud cover across the entire power plant. This versatility allows plants equipped with Zonal Diffuse to maximize energy gains by effectively “chasing clouds,” without compromising on tracking performance during clear sky conditions.
