SolarEdge Technologies Inc., a leading smart energy technology company, is making waves in the U.S. market with the unveiling of its latest innovation – the SolarEdge Home Hub and Wave inverters. These upgraded inverters are set to revolutionize the solar industry by enabling the installation of larger Photovoltaic (PV) systems without the need for costly and time-consuming main panel upgrades.
One of the key features of the new SolarEdge inverters is the integration of power control system (PCS) technology. This breakthrough technology allows for the monitoring, balancing, and control of currents on the main panel busbar, thus allowing the installation of PV systems that are over 50% larger than the current National Electrical Code 120% rule permits. Prior to this development, homeowners would have had to undergo a main panel upgrade to accommodate such systems. Now, a typical residence with a 200 Amp main panel can install up to three 11.4 kW SolarEdge inverters without the hassle of a main panel upgrade.
In addition to the PCS integration, SolarEdge’s DC-coupled architecture offers even greater flexibility and efficiency. The new inverters can handle up to 200% DC oversizing, allowing the storage of excess PV energy in the SolarEdge Home DC-coupled battery system.
Installation of the SolarEdge Home Hub and Wave inverters has been made remarkably simpler. With the embedded PCS technology, only current transformers need to be installed on the main panel, eliminating the need for additional external connector boxes. This streamlined process simplifies both the installation and commissioning procedures.
SolarEdge Technologies has also incorporated software innovations to expedite commissioning, ensuring faster and more efficient system setup. Moreover, the implementation of automotive-grade critical components enhances the reliability of the inverters, further instilling confidence in the longevity and performance of the system.
The introduction of this new embedded PCS technology marks a significant milestone in the solar industry. By allowing homeowners to install larger PV systems without major panel upgrades, SolarEdge is empowering individuals and businesses to harness the full potential of solar energy.
The SolarEdge Home Hub and Wave inverters, equipped with PCS technology, are expected to be available for order by the end of the year. As the solar industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, SolarEdge Technologies remains at the forefront, driving innovation focused on efficiency, ease of installation, and reliability.
