Leeward Renewable Energy (LRE), a leading renewable energy developer and independent power producer, has joined forces with Nextracker, a specialist in utility-scale solar tracker and software optimization technology, to establish a volume commitment agreement (VCA). This agreement will ensure the delivery of 3 GW of Nextracker’s highly advanced NX Horizon smart solar tracking system to LRE’s solar projects under development and construction until 2027. This marks the second VCA agreement between LRE and Nextracker, solidifying their strategic partnership even further.
Under the terms of this collaboration, Nextracker will provide its cutting-edge solar tracker and software technology to LRE’s solar power projects across strategic locations throughout the United States. Nextracker’s acclaimed TrueCapture and NX Navigator software solutions will be employed, maximizing solar energy production while incorporating crucial reliability features that safeguard solar panels and mitigate the impact of extreme weather conditions, including snow, hail, and high winds.
In addition to their shared commitment to reliable and sustainable energy, both companies are dedicated to fostering domestic job creation and boosting U.S.-based manufacturing of renewable energy projects. Nextracker has taken significant strides in this regard by establishing factories over the last two years to manufacture much of the steel and electronics utilized in their solar systems. This has resulted in the creation of several hundred jobs. As part of the agreement, Nextracker will supply LRE with finished steel products from their recently opened domestic steel manufacturing plants located in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.
This groundbreaking agreement not only underscores the strong partnership between LRE and Nextracker, but also reflects their joint efforts to support local economies, create jobs, and promote the growth of the renewable energy sector in the United States.
