Summit Ridge Energy, a prominent solar and energy storage company in the United States, has successfully commissioned the first two out of four energy storage systems (ESS) in New York City. Strategically located in Brooklyn and Staten Island, the installations have been designed to facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, including offshore wind energy. By stabilizing the grid and bolstering resiliency, these systems aim to reduce dependence on diesel-powered peaker plants in New York City.

Once the remaining projects are energized in the coming months, Summit Ridge Energy’s four ESS installations will collectively provide an impressive storage capacity of 58 MWh to New York’s electric grid. Under a unique initiative, NYU Langone Health has partnered with Summit Ridge Energy to purchase all the bill credits generated by the first two energy storage systems.
