Matrix Renewables, a globally renowned renewable energy platform backed by TPG Rise, has recently entered into a framework agreement with First Solar Inc., a leading provider of ultra-low carbon photovoltaic technology. The agreement entails the procurement of approximately 2.1 GW DC of advanced thin-film modules from First Solar Inc., which will be utilized to power Matrix projects in the United States and Spain. This collaboration marks Matrix’s inaugural order of responsibly produced photovoltaic technology from First Solar.

With an extensive presence and a strong focus on clean energy initiatives, Matrix Renewables owns over 6 GW of projects in diverse stages of development across four prominent regions in the U.S., including CAISO, MISO, ERCOT, and WECC. As the demand for renewable energy continues to surge, Matrix remains dedicated to expanding its project pipeline and team, aiming to capitalize on the nation’s high requirements for sustainable power. On a global scale, Matrix’s reach further extends to Spain, Italy, and Chile, boasting a total footprint of over 13 GW in solar power, battery storage, and green hydrogen projects.

Georges Antoun, the Chief Commercial Officer of First Solar, commented on Matrix’s decision to partner with First Solar, stating, “Matrix is the latest among several prominent Independent Power Producers (IPPs), both in the U.S. and internationally, that have chosen to collaborate with First Solar. We believe this decision is driven not only by the strength and competitiveness of our technology but also by our shared values. This latest order reinforces our conviction that an increasing number of developers recognize the importance of responsible solar and the significance of working with a reliable partner that consistently fulfills its commitments.”

The procurement of First Solar’s thin-film modules by Matrix Renewables signifies a significant step towards their commitment to sustainable energy production. By embracing the ultra-low carbon photovoltaic technology provided by First Solar, Matrix reinforces its dedication to delivering clean and responsible solar solutions to meet the evolving energy needs of both the United States and Spain. This partnership exemplifies the value attributed to utilizing advanced renewable energy technologies and signifies the potential for further collaborations in the future.
