Thornova Begins High-Vol. Solar Manufacturing in Vietnam for U.S. Projects

Written by Wu Mingzhe

Thornova Solar, a prominent United States-based provider of bifacial TOPCon and PERC solar modules, has commenced high-volume manufacturing in its advanced facility located in Vietnam. With an immediate production capacity of 1.5 GW, Thornova is well-positioned to meet the demands of utility-scale, commercial, and residential projects across the United States.

At the core of Thornova’s offerings are their cutting-edge TOPCon modules and PERC modules, delivering exceptional performance with power outputs ranging from 415 Wp to 615 Wp. These superior solar modules are accompanied by a 15- to 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance guarantee, ensuring the long-term reliability and efficacy of the investment.

Thornova’s TOPCon modules feature n-Type solar cells, free from light-induced degradation (LID), which results in substantial increases in power production over time. Remarkably, the 156-cell bifacial dual-glass modules have the potential to generate up to 615Wp of clean energy, while boasting a temperature coefficient of -0.30 %/℃ Pmax.

On the other hand, Thornova’s PERC modules, available in bifacial dual-glass configurations, offer an impressive power output of up to 560Wp. For those seeking aesthetic appeal, the company also offers all-black modules, delivering a maximum power output of 460 Wp.

Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Thornova takes pride in its local operations, technical support, and sales teams, building a robust presence within the U.S. market. In line with their commitment to domestic growth, Thornova intends to establish a U.S.-based manufacturing facility in 2024. This upcoming expansion will enable buyers to benefit from solar modules produced with domestic materials, qualifying for invaluable U.S. tax credits.

Thornova maintains a high standard of quality and compliance, ensuring all their products are CSA-certified to UL standards. The company diligently selects suppliers for solar panel components and adheres to the SEIA Solar Supply Chain Traceability Protocol, guaranteeing complete transparency and traceability throughout the supply chain.

As Thornova ramps up its solar module production, the company remains dedicated to assisting U.S. projects to achieve their renewable energy goals. Their advanced solar technologies, expansive manufacturing capabilities, and commitment to domestic operations make Thornova an industry leader and a reliable partner in accelerating the transition towards a cleaner and sustainable future.
