Array Technologies, a leading provider of tracker solutions and services for utility-scale solar energy projects, has reached an agreement with Lock Joint Tube, a renowned manufacturer of mechanical and structural-grade steel tubing. This partnership aims to secure supply from a newly established steel mill in Texas dedicated to the production of utility-scale solar tubing.
Situated in Temple, Texas, where Lock Joint Tube has already established operations, the new mill will utilize locally sourced steel to manufacture solar tubing in compliance with the domestic content requirements outlined in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). This alliance between the two companies not only creates new manufacturing employment opportunities but also leverages automation technology to ensure optimal efficiency throughout the production process.
Kevin Hostetler, CEO at Array Technologies, emphasizes the significance of this investment in American manufacturing, highlighting its positive impact on job creation in the renewable energy sector within the local community. Additionally, it strengthens the integrity of the domestic solar supply chain and solidifies Array’s commitment to expanding its presence in the United States, particularly in Texas and other regions in the central U.S.
Lock Joint Tube is known for its seamless provisions of steel tubing for solar panels and torque tubing for solar tracker systems. By collaborating with established steel suppliers worldwide, Array Technologies can effortlessly secure high-quality products from various regions, ensuring a steady supply for its esteemed customers while mitigating potential supply chain challenges.
A remarkable ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility was held on June 28th in Temple, Texas, marking the official inauguration of the steel tube mill. It is worth noting that Lock Joint Tube already operates a steel torque tube mill in South Bend, Indiana, where they also produce tubing for Array Technologies.
By coming together to establish this state-of-the-art facility, Array Technologies and Lock Joint Tube aim to bolster the growth of the solar energy industry, while simultaneously contributing to the overall economic development of the region. This strategic partnership ascertains Array’s commitment to providing robust solutions for utility-scale solar projects across the nation.
